PF-08

Water- and oil-repellent polymer

PF-08 is a fluorine-free silicone polymer. Incorporation of PF-08 into polymer materials is expected to improve water- and oil-repellent properties. This product also contains a UV-curable group.

  • Imparts water- and oil-repellent properties
  • Contains a UV-curable group
  • PFAS-free

Contact angle measurement (stainability evaluation)

Contact angles were measured for samples prepared using PF-08 and PFAS-containing polymers.

Sample preparation conditions

1. PF-08 and PFAS-containing products were diluted to 3 wt% with the specified solvent.
2. A photopolymerization initiator was added at 3 wt% relative to the solid content.
3. A 150 µL aliquot of the resulting solution was deposited onto a glass plate and applied via spin coating.
4. Samples were dried after UV curing.

Contact angle measurement conditions

Using water, methylene iodide, and oleic acid, contact angles were measured 10 s after droplet application (N = 2), and mean values were calculated. Surface energy was calculated from the contact angles of water and methylene iodide using the Owens–Wendt equation.

PF-08 exhibits water- and oil-repellent performance comparable to that of PFAS-containing products in terms of contact angle and surface energy.
