Macro Azo initiators
Plastics manufacturing
Macro azo initiators (MAI) are a class of unique azo compounds, which can produce block polymers easily by polymerizing with radical polymeric vinyl monomer. MAI has repeated structural sequences of polymer segment and azo groups combined with several radical-generating sites. For this reason, when polymerized with the monomer, MAI can be designed to produce polymer with high effect of blocked state. Since it dissolves in various solvents, it can be employed on a wide range of polymerizations such as solution polymerization, suspension polymerization and emulsion polymerization. Since MAI reacts with a variety of monomers in copolymerization, it is highly potential for molecule design of block polymer and structure control for any purpose. VPS-1001N whose polymer segment is polydimethylsiloxane and VPE-0201 whose polymer segment is polyethyleneglycol are available in Wako. Besides, Wako undertakes custom manufacturing for various block polymers utilizing MAI.
